permission to plan

Hey pretty lady!

We’re continuing on with our series called Maximize Your Me-Time, minimize your guilt. I hope you’re finding it not just enjoyable, but valuable! Because here’s the thing we’ll get into the next couple of weeks - we need a plan.

I’m a planner, so this is just fine for me. If you’re not a planner, don’t break into the nervous sweats just yet, girlfriend, because you’re going to be just fine as we walk you through this.

But, the big question, now that you know how much free time you have (if you need to catch up on the blog, click here or the podcast conversation click here, or download the free workbook, click here.)

How are you going to spend your me-time?

Because let me tell you, sister, if you don’t have a plan, you’re going to go back to your bad habits and time sucks. A couple of months ago, I remember finishing work an hour earlier than I had expected. Sure, of course, I could’ve gone to pick up the kids early, but instead, I thought, oh my gosh, I’ve got AN HOUR!

I got all giddy and excited and quite frankly, amped up in my brain space, and then sat at my kitchen table for 27 minutes. I had no idea what to do with my free time. What would I fill it with? I didn’t know. I debated turning on Netflix or listening to a podcast. I ruled out running. I refused to clean because I wanted me-time and I’ve earned it, for crying out loud!

But, alas. No plan. No ideas. Nothing. So I scrolled social for another 10 minutes and hopped in the car to pick up the kiddies.

WHAT A WASTE! Literally 37 glorious minutes that could’ve been spent resting or recharging was spent getting frustrated due to lack of a plan.

So, here we go. I don’t want that to happen to me any more, and I for sure don’t want it to happen to you either! The workbook is the best place to do this work, but if you’re just scrolling for now, take a moment to think through some time windows.

  • How could you fill 10 minutes with some solid me-time?

  • An hour?

  • Two hours?

These are good questions, friend! I’ve got my list ready for next time the stars align and the angels sing and I have an extra hour. I know exactly what I’ll do. I’ll either get cozy on the couch or head outside for a walk and listen to the Office Ladies podcast!

If I’ve got 10 minutes, responsible Lisa will likely do a quick pick-up of the house, but that doesn’t mean I can’t double-dip! I can get some me-time outta that, no problem, by singing worship songs at the tippy top of my lungs! You’re welcome, neighbors!

What will you do?

Listen, the point of this Maximize Your Me-Time blog and podcast series is to encourage you to spend your time wisely and remind you that life is short. Our little moments are the moments that make up our lives. Sure, we celebrate the big wins and heal from the big losses, but our lives are made up of moments that turn into minutes that turn into hours and days and weeks and months and years.

Your moments matter. Your life matters. You matter.

Cheering you on!

Lisa

P.S. The corresponding Megaphone Podcast episode awaits you! Listen on your favorite podcast platform, share the episode with a friend, and leave us a review. (Yes, I’m high maintenance. Thank you for putting up with me.)
